Oodles of Beyond the Box thinking, all collected into one handy blog!
A team may participate in one Qualifying Tournament. Please only register for one weekend. Teams wishing to advance to the State Tournament must compete in a Qualifying Tournament.
Competitions will take place on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Natomas High School in Sacramento and on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Edna Hill Middle School in Brentwood.
Teams are encouraged to develop a theme and incorporate creative elements into their solutions in technical, vehicle, structure AND performance long-term problems.
Because students must work in teams, they’ll need to learn how to work cooperatively for the good of the whole group.
Every team will work in its own way and at its own pace. And always remember, kids will surprise you!
Teams will solve several spontaneous problems, each set up as it would be for a tournament!
Look at the list of things that need to be completed in order to solve the problem (if you created a list). Which of those things does the team think they can finish in a longer 3-4 hour session?
It would be considered Outside Assistance for the coach to direct the team’s performance. But the coach (or a parent volunteer) can give short stagecraft SKILLS lessons.
What is Style? Style is the team’s WOW factor! It’s what makes the team’s performance memorable to the judges and audience members.
Since we know teams are always thinking up new things, sometimes clarifications will be needed!
